Greek Energy Regulator RAE Announces First Joint Solar PV & Wind Power Tender With 600 MW Capacity; Ceiling Tariff Fixed At €64.72/MWh; Bid Submissions May Be Made Till March 27, 2019

Greek energy regulator RAE has opened the process of accepting proposals for its solar and wind power tender totalling 830 MW. For solar, it will select projects with an installed capacity of 500 kW or more and not more than 20 MW, adding up to a total of 430 MW. Bids for solar technology projects have been capped at €0.06926 ($0.078) per kWh.
Wind power plants stands to win a total of 400 MW with ceiling tariff of €0.06918 ($0.078) per kWh, according to the notice published in the government gazette that explains the guidelines for conducting 2 competitive tender procedures for renewable electricity sources of energy.
In April 2019, RAE announced auction results of its 600 MW renewable energy tender awarding only 437.78 MW. It took the opportunity to also launch 2 new tender proceedings for 300 MW of solar and wind power capacity each (see Greece Awards Over 437 MW In 600 MW RE Auction). Last date to submit bids remains unchanged at May 31, 2019.
Previously, in July 2018 RAE awarded more than 277 MW renewable energy under country’s first renewable energy auction with solar securing 106 MW in 2 categories of up to 1 MW projects and projects between 1 MW to 20 MW (see First Greek RE Auction Awards 106 MW PV).
