(17. December 2020)
Chinese vertically integrated solar module manufacturer JA Solar has successfully started production of 5 GW solar cells and 5 GW module capacity at Yiwu Information Optoelectronic High-tech Industrial Park. Under phase I, the company said it was able to roll out first solar cells and modules using 182mm large-size wafers off the assembly line successfully.
In a stock exchange filing, the management stated that project’s commissioning will further increase its high efficiency solar cell and module production capacity and market competitiveness.
In January 2020, JA Solar said it will produce 5 GW solar cells and 10 GW solar module capacity at Yiwu park, and later adjusted the solar cell capacity plans for the location to increase to 10 GW (see JA Solar Ups Cell Capacity Expansion Plans).
Back then the company said it will be targeting full commercial operations of phase I with 5 GW cells and 5 GW modules in December 2021. Remaining 10 GW capacity should be rolled out for the market by December 2023.
During a TaiyangNews event in July, JA said it will have 20 MW module capacity end of 2020 (see TaiyangNews 500 W+ Conference: JA Solar). In September 2020, JA Solar said it will expand vertical integrated production capacity of ingot, wafers, solar cells and modules for RMB 10.39 billion (see JA Solar To Expand Capacity For RMB 10.39 Billion).
