Key Takeaways

  • MSEDCL has issued a tender to procure solar power capacity underChief Minister Agricultural Solar Feeder Scheme
  • Projects need to be set up as 25 MW or 50 MW capacity in 30 circles in the state of Maharashtra
  • Another tender with 500 MW PV capacity has been launched with intrastate grid connection Phase V

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (MSEDCL) has come up with more requirements for solar power under the state’s Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana or Chief Minister Agricultural Solar Feeder Scheme – this time for 1.35 GW (AC) capacity.

It seeks to have this capacity come from 25 MW and 50 MW projects to be connected at the distribution network (11/22 KV) in 30 circles identified to be located in Vidarbha, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada and rest of Maharashtra.

Bid submission will be allowed till January 29, 2020 when the technical bids will be opened. Details of the 1.35 GW solar tender can be viewed on MSEDCL’s website.

Last time when the agency invited bids for its 1.35 GW solar power requirement under the same scheme, it attracted only one bid for 5 MW for the winning tariff of INR 3.14 per kWh (see Only One Bid For Maharashtra’s 1.35 GW Solar Tender).

500 MW intrastate solar tender

In the last week of December 2019, MSEDCL launched a request for selection (RFS) round to buy power from 500 MW intrastate grid connected solar PV projects under Phase V on a long term basis, setting a minimum bid capacity at 5 MW. Projects need to be located within the state of Maharashtra.

The ceiling tariff for this capacity has been fixed at INR 2.90 per kWh. Last date to submit request for selection (RFS) documents is January 28, 2020.

This tender has been issued by MSEDCL to fulfill its renewable purchase obligation (RPO) and to meet future power requirements. The agency will sign power purchase agreements (PPA) with the winners for 25 years period.

The last 500 MW intrastate solar tender Phase IV of the MSEDCL managed to bring down the lowest bid only slightly to INR 2.89 per kWh and was offered by Juniper Green Energy (see MSEDCL’s 500 MW PV Tender Gets INR 2.89/kWh L1 Bid).
