- X-Elio and Nexus Energia have signed on a PPA for a 50 MW solar power project to be located in Almeria, Spain
- The PPA with Nexus Energia will allow it to construct this new project and bring it online by H2/2021
- On commissioning, the 50 MW facility is expected to generate around 100 GWh of power which Nexus Energia will supply to its customers
Solar PV project developer X-Elio of Spain has announced a new power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 50 MW project in the country with local energy utility Nexus Energia. The project is already at an advanced processing stage and is scheduled for commissioning in the second half of 2021.
The 50 MW solar power project will be installed in Spain’s Almeria region and on completion is expected to generate close to 100 GWh of clean power annually. The PPA, for an unspecified duration, will allow X-Elio to bring the project to fruition. Nexus Energia said it has already reached an additional 3 GW in this new stage of expansion thanks to new corporate agreements. “With this, in 2020 the group will manage a representation portfolio of around 10 TWh/year of energy, which corresponds to a growth of over 100% compared to the previous year,” said Nexus Energia.
The two companies are already partners for two separate PV projects of 50 MW each in Murcia, Spain for which they entered into a PPA for 14 years, marking the first Spanish PPA for X-Elio.
X-Elio bagged a 12-year PPA deal with Galp of Portugal in October 2019 to supply 358 GWh of solar power annually from its 200 MW Spanish PV portfolio (see X-Elio Bags PPA For 200 MW Spanish Projects).
