JinkoSolar Holding has shipped its modules with a cumulative capacity of 950 MW to be used for PV projects at various sites in Spain and Mexico being developed by Spanish company X-Elio.
The world’s largest solar module manufacturer from China has supplied its 72-cell ultra-high efficiency PERC mono Cheetah products for these projects. JinkoSolar reached 24.38% top power conversion efficiency for its Cheetah cells certified by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (see 24.38% Efficiency For JinkoSolar’s Cheetah Cells).
Of this 950 MW, X-Elio will be deploying 575 MW at 12 project sites in Spain’s Ciudad Real, Badajoz, Albacete, Murcia, Almeria, Sevilla, Cartagena, Valencia and Segovia regions. The remaining 375 MW will be divided between Veracruz and Navojoa locations in Mexico with 118 MW and 257 MW, respectively.
The Chinese company says this deal with X-Elio will help it significantly expand shares in the Spanish and Mexican PV markets. In September 2019, METKA EGN signed up JinkoSolar to supply its Cheetah modules for 300 MW Talasol Solar Project (see 448 MW Chinese Modules For Spanish & Ukrainian Projects).
X-Elio secured a $17.2 million financial package for its 80 MW solar power project in Mexico from IDB Invest, and in Spain it recently signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Galp to supply solar power from a 200 MW Spanish portfolio from June 2020 (see X-Elio Bags PPA For 200 MW Spanish Projects).
