Gujarat State Cabinet Approves 60,000 Hectares Land Allotment In Kutch District To Host 41.5 GW Hybrid Solar & Wind Energy Project: Media
(10. September 2020)
The Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) has invited bids from consultants for a 3,325 MW hybrid renewable energy park in Gujarat’s Great Rann of Kutch area, near Khavda. It will comprise wind and solar PV resources. The Great Rann of Kutch or Kachchh, is a salt desert in Gujarat on the India Pakistan border.
The utility is seeking advisory services for conceptualization and preparation of feasibility cum detailed project report (DPR) along with work of soil investigation, geotechnical survey, topography survey, contour survey, and hydrological study for the development of the renewable energy park.
The proposed park is being planned under the federal Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Ultra Mega Solar Parks Scheme defined as being located in a concentrated zone for the development of renewable power generation projects with common transmission and infrastructure facilities, with a view to minimizing project risk.
GSECL, in the tender notification, stated it is taking all necessary steps to exploit the renewable energy resources for the maximum benefit and to support GoI in reaching target of 175 GW by 2022. In this context, GSECL is desirous of engaging Firms for Preparation of DPR of Wind/Solar/Hybrid Parks in the State of Gujarat.
As per the tender notice, the last date to submit bids is October 20, 2020 for online applications and October 26, 2020 for physical submissions.
Last year, there were reports of the state government having signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth INR 1,000 billion in the space of renewable energy. Out of this, Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) was reported to be interested in setting up a hybrid solar and wind power park in Khavda, Kutch for INR 300 billion as the ‘world’s largest solar hybrid park’. Additionally, it wanted to set up an integrated lithium battery manufacturing complex and expand its PV manufacturing capabilities (see Gujarat Laps Up INR 1,000bn For RE Investment).
In September 2020, the Gujarat state cabinet was reported by local media to have approved 60,000-hectare land allotment in Kutch district to host 41.5 GW hybrid solar and wind energy projects (see 41.5 GW Hybrid Renewable Energy Park In Gujarat).
