Hangzhou First’s operating income at RMB 5.469 billion in first three quarters: Releasing its report for the third quarter of 2020, solar module encapsulation material world market leader, Hangzhou First said that it has achieved an operating income of RMB 5.469 billion ($.82 billion) in the first three quarters of 2020, a year-on-year increase of 19.1%. The company attributes this rise in performance to an increase in the average sales unit price of the company’s photovoltaic film products and the expansion of the sales scale. Last month, Hangzhou First had announced its plans to expand PV Film & Backsheet production capacity (see China PV News Snippets: Hangzhou, Canadian Solar, Sofar Solar). An overview on Hangzhou First’s products is provided in a recently published TaiyangNews Survey (see TaiyangNews Market Survey on Backsheets & Encapsulation 2020).
Tongwei announces cell pricing for November: Tongwei officially released its cell pricing for the month of November 2020, where Polycrystalline cell Diamond Wire 157 is priced at RMB 0.62 per W ($.093). Meanwhile, the 158.75 monocrystalline single/double-sided PERC, the 166 monocrystalline cells and the double-sided PERC cell have been priced at RMB 0.97 per W ($.14). The prices are the same as October pricing. In August, Tongwei had increased its polycrystalline solar cell prices (see China PV News Snippets: Topray Solar, Tongwei, DKEM)
Xigaze solar storage demonstration project grid-connected in Tibet: The 40 MW grid-connected photovoltaic energy storage power station project in Gamba County, Tibet was successfully connected to the grid for power generation. Known for being the largest installed capacity integrated solar storage projects at world’s highest altitude, its construction began on June 10, 2020, and about 80% of the project has been completed so far. The total investment of the project is at RMB 690 million ($103.04 million).
JA Solar holds commissioning ceremony for its Yiwu manufacturing facility: The commissioning ceremony of JA Solar’s Yiwu new 10 GW cell & module facility (phase 1 includes 5 GW cells, 5 GW modules) was successfully held, where Chairman of JA Technology, Jin Baofang, said that this is the largest investment project in the company’s history and is of strategic significance to its future development. Adopting leading photovoltaic technology and equipment that represents the most advanced manufacturing level in the industry, the project produces ultra-high power modules for large-size silicon wafers.
