Jinko to purchase 93,000 tons polysilicon from Tongwei: Leading solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar and its subsidiary Sichuan Jinko have signed a long-term agreement with second tier subsidiaries of Tongwei to procure 93,000 metric tons of polysilicon. As per the agreement, the order is locked and the parties can negotiate additional purchases and the price for future procurement.

Jinko Malaysia to invest $ 221.7 million for 1.8 GW production expansion: As reported in Chinese solar blog PVMen, JinkoSolar will invest $221.27 million through its wholly-owned overseas subsidiary JinkoSolar (Malaysia), towards building a new production line in Penang, Malaysia with an annual output of 1.8 GW solar modules and 1.8 GW solar cells. Previously, Jinko had built a 2 GW module and 2.35 GW cell facility in Penang in three phases, involving a total investment of $ 336.67 million. Last year, JinkoSolar had opened a new research and development center in Penang, where it would conduct further research for its Tiger solar panels, the first commercial module on the market based on tiling ribbon technology, which enables higher module output (see JinkoSolar Builds R&D Center For Tiger Panels Abroad).

Heshun Electric to acquire two PV plants: Electric power equipment provider Heshun Electric announced that it plans to acquire 100% equity of Dingtao Sanrui and Jinan Sanrui with its funds and debt obligations. Both own photovoltaic power stations with an installed capacity of 10 MW each.

JA Solar chairman investigated: Issuing an announcement, JA Solar said its Chairman, Jin Baofang, has been detained by the local government and was being investigated by Pingdu Supervisory Committee in China’s Shandong Province. The leading vertically integrated solar module manufacturer added that its day-today operations have not been affected by the investigation, and it is continuing to operate as normal.
