140 MW module contract for Risen Energy: Risen Energy has secured a module supply contract for 140 MW of its mono PERC solar modules to be supplied to UPC-AC Energy Solar Asia Limited, a joint venture between UPC Renewables and AC Energy. The structured contract is a multi-party deal accommodating various stakeholder requirements and needs to be supplied by early 2021, said Risen Energy. A statement from the Chinese module company did not specify the project details or location where this 140 MW will be deployed. However, it stated that the JV has more than 1 GW of solar projects in its pipeline across Asia Pacific. “We look forwards to participating in the further expansion of UPC-AC Energy SA in the future, with further bespoke contracts aimed at delivering more tangible bottom line results,” said Risen Energy’s CSMO, Bypina Veerraju Chaudary.
JA Solar’s 3.6 GW solar cell factory online: JA Solar has announced the completion and commercial operations of its 3.6 GW solar cell production capacity with a total investment of RMB 1.13 billion ($166 million). These solar cells will be produced using large sized wafers of 182 mm. JA Solar said it took 5 months to complete the civil construction, equipment installation and commissioning the project on schedule. In February 2020, the company announced its intention to invest this amount to upgrade the 3.6 GW cell fab of its subsidiary Jingao Solar in Jinglong Industrial Park in Ningjin County of Hebei province to produce high efficiency solar cells. It is intended to help the company reduce its expense on buying cells externally (see JA Solar Ups Cell Capacity Expansion Plans).
ZNShine Solar begins construction for 10 GW solar module fab: ZNShine Solar has broken ground on site of its 10 GW high efficiency solar module production capacity. The Suqian, Jiangsu located project will be built for an investment of RMB 5.5 billion ($811 million) and completed in 2 phases. Phase I with 4 GW annual capacity will be up and running in November 2020 while 6 GW under phase II is expected to start commercial operations in 2021. ZNShine Solar said the new capacity will be compatible with the latest 18X and 210 mm cell production with a maximum compatible module size of 2650 x 1450 mm.
ZNShine also announced separately that it has bagged a module supply contract for 214 MW double glass modules with frame to be supplied to Ayana Renewable Power for its project in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India.
