After Gongda Yao Surprisingly Resigned As Daqo New Energy’s CEO, Search Begins To Find A Successor
(10. January 2018)
Shortly after its long-serving CEO Gongda Yao resigned, publicly listed Chinese silicon manufacturer Daqo New Energy Corp. has found a successor. Longgen Zhang is now the new CEO and executive board member of the company with immediate effect.
After being with the company for close to a decade, Yao resigned earlier this month to pursue personal interests and to spend time with his family (see Daqo’s Gongda Yao Resigns). He will continue to serve as a non-executive board member until March 31, 2018.
Zhang comes from JinkoSolar, where he was the company’s CFO until 2014. Currently, however, he serves as a director of JinkoSolar and ZZ Capital International Ltd.
A certified public accountant from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Zhang has taken over from Daqo’s founder and chairman, Guangfu Xu, who was the acting CEO following Yao’s resignation.
“We are very excited to welcome Longgen on board as our chief executive officer,” said Xu. “I look forward to working closely with him to strengthen and expand our position as the supplier of choice for high-quality polysilicon.”
