Global solar tracker shipments reached a record 134 GW DC in 2025, up 19% YoY
Nextpower retained the top market position with nearly 40 GW DC of shipments worldwide
The US and Europe both posted record demand, while Africa and Saudi Arabia emerged as key growth markets
The global solar tracker market grew by 19% in 2025, reaching more than 134 GW DC of equipment shipments, according to a new report from Wood Mackenzie.
Nextpower maintained its position as the world's largest solar tracker supplier for the eleventh consecutive year, shipping nearly 40 GW DC and capturing around 30% of the global market.
US-based GameChange Energy (previously GameChange Solar) followed its compatriot Nextpower next on the list among top 5 with strong demand in India and Africa. Notably Nextracker, Nextpower has filed a patent lawsuit accusing GameChange of infringing on 3 of its patents in its Genious Tracker systems and related software (see Nextpower Sues GameChange Over Solar Tracker Patents).
China’s Arctech Solar, the US-based Array Technologies, and Spain’s PV Hardware rounded out the top 5 in Wood Mackenzie’s rankings. Saudi Arabia was a key market for Arctech in 2025, but the company dropped one position from second place in the previous year’s rankings (see 2024 Global Solar Tracker Shipments Up 20% To 111 GW DC).
The US remained a key growth market, with tracker shipments rising more than 25% year-on-year (YoY) to exceed 40 GW DC for the 1st time.
Nextpower expanded its market share to over 50% in the country, according to Wood Mackenzie while Array Technologies and GameChange Energy remained leading competitors. Together, the 3 companies accounted for nearly 90% of the entire US market last year.
“While global tracker demand continues to grow, the domestic market remains uniquely important to these top American vendors” said Joe Shangraw, Research Analyst at Wood Mackenzie. “Not only is the revenue-per-watt significantly higher than international averages, but the US is the epicenter for tracker innovation in this current era of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activity, smart software, and expanded product offerings. Success in the US is the best tool for global expansion.”
Europe also recorded a new high of 25 GW DC in tracker shipments. Axial led the regional market, supported by growing demand for agri-PV projects and dual-use land applications.
