  • Kaneka Corporation has said it will increase prices of its solar products by 20% or more
  • The price revision will be applicable for both residential and non-residential products with effect from April 1, 2022
  • Management cited global shortage of silicon raw materials, high logistics costs as the reasons for its decision

Japanese solar PV module producer Kaneka Corporation has announced come April 1, 2022 and it will increase the price of its solar products by 20% or more from the current price, citing tight supply of silicon raw materials and high logistics costs.

It specifies that the sale price revision will be applicable for both residential and non-residential solar products.

In a very brief statement, Kaneka said along with the global shortage of silicon raw materials, high logistics costs are leading to price increase for other raw materials as high-transparency glass as well, adding to the pressure on its profits.

It added that the company has reached its limit to internally reducing costs, hence ‘we have no choice but to implement price revisions for stable product supply in the future’.

The group produces solar modules for building integrated PV (BIPV) applications as well as for ground mounted and roof surfaces.
