Italy has published its new renewable energy tender schedule for 2022, starting with the country’s 8th renewables tender call on January 31, 2022, announced state-owned energy service system operator Gestore dei Servizi Energetici SpA (GSE).
Calls for the 8th tender will be announced soon after the results of the 7th tender round are published by January 28, 2022 since the agency will add the capacity not allocated in this round and all the previous rounds to the 8th one. Tender bids for 8th round will be accepted till March 2, 2022 while its results will be announced on May 31, 2022.
It added that if all the available power is not assigned in the 8th call, it will open a new tender procedure, the 9th, on May 31, 2022.
“The procedures will take place pending the new decrees to update the support schemes for renewable sources, which will make new power available to operators that can be incentivized,” stated GSE.
Italy’s €191.5 billion recovery and resilience plan was endorsed by the European Commission in June 2021, which includes measures to promote the use of renewable energy sources, including hydrogen.
