Chinese solar module manufacturer, Canadian Solar Inc., (CSI) has appointed Huifeng Chang its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), replacing Michael Potter.

Chang joined CSI earlier this year as senior vice present of corporate strategy, business development and finance. Prior to this, he was the co-head of sales and trading at the US subsidiary of China International Capital Corporation (CICC). He has also served as the CEO of CSOP Asset Management Limited in Hong Kong. Other positions that he has held include Vice President and an equity proprietary trader at Citigroup Equity Proprietary Investments in New York and risk consultant to banks in Asia at Kamakura Corporation in Hawaii.

He holds a PhD in soil physics and an MBA from University of Hawaii, as well as an MS degree from Academia Sinica.

CSI Chairman and CEO Shawn Qu, commented, “Huifeng brings with him many years of valuable experience in capital markets and risk management in a global context. Meanwhile, we are indebted to Michael for his years of service in which Canadian Solar has transformed itself from a solar module manufacturing and sales company to a vertically integrated global leader in the solar industry.”

Potter, who is also senior vice president at CSI and served as CFO since 2011, is leaving the company, but is said to serve in an advisory role.
