  • Hive Energy has announced the appointment of Mike O’Neill as the CEO of Hive Renewables
  • O’Neill will support the group in its global expansion drive for grid connected solar, wind and storage pipeline
  • Country Managers of the group in 14 nations will directly report to O’Neill to develop their respective pipelines

The former Commercial Director of UK based renewable energy company RES, Mike O’Neill has come on board Hive Energy as the CEO of the group’s renewables business called Hive Renewables to help it with the global expansion activities.

O’Neill comes to the Hive Energy group with his experience of over 25 years in the energy industry where he worked in various capacities establishing operations and expanding into new markets which Hive says will help the company as it undertakes expansion to various geographies (see Hive Energy’s $4 Billion Solar & Storage Plans For Turkey).

“While we were once solely a solar developer, we now have an array of technologies and developments within the Hive Group including circular economy projects: Hive Ventures, Hive Aggregates, and Hive Ecosystems,” said Hive Energy CEO and Founder Giles Redpath. “The division that Mike will oversee is by far the most mature and deserves the opportunity to establish its own path, which it can now do with his leadership.”

Hive Renewables is focused on the development of grid connected solar, battery storage and wind energy projects. O’Neill will oversee and manage all of the company’s solar, wind and storage pipeline estimated at nearly 13 GW.

The management said its Country Managers in 14 nations will report directly to O’Neill to have additional support to develop their respective pipelines.

O’Neill previously also headed UK headquartered private equity firm Hudson Clean Energy Partners’ owned wind and solar power projects developer Element Power as its CEO for over 10 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.
