Hawaiian Electric Companies (HECO) plans to procure clean solar power from 7 grid-scale solar power projects with 262 MW total capacity and 1,048 MWh of storage capacity. All of this energy storage capacity will provide 4 hours of electricity.

Hawaiian Electric Companies (HECO) has received the green light from the Hawaiian Public Utilities Commission (HPUC) for its plan to go 100% renewable by 2040. This will be ahead of the state’s goal of 2045.
