A 47.5 MW floating solar power plant is planned for the reservoir of 175 MW Da Mi Hydropower plant in Vietnam. Of this, 20.5 MW has come online (in the picture) on a 50-hectare area with 143,940 solar panels.

Rystad Energy’s SERA Tracker shows the maximum concentration of Vietnam’s 20 GW large-scale PV pipeline in Dak Lak and Ninh Thuan provinces in the country’s south.The consultancy points towards a larger revolution in Vietnam’s energy mix that’s still heavily dependent on fossil fuel and hydropower alone, irrespective of the concern whether all solar projects will be realized by the June 2019 deadline.
