  • Meyer Burger added C&I modules to its portfolio that feature reduce cells gap along with company’s proprietary SWCT connection technology
  • The module series attained efficiency of 22% and a module area of 8 m2
  • The optimized rooftiles now no longer constrained by a fixed substructure dimension due to the variable covering length

Meyer Burger’s proudly labels it’s high-performance solar modules  as “Made in Germany.” Swiss headquartered and with production in Germany, the company’s Meyer Burger Black, Meyer Burger White and Meyer Burger Glass provide are said to provide even greater energy yield and efficiency due to a unique cell connection and a self-cleaning frame design, according to the company. At the last Intersolar, the cell and module producer presented its expanded range, which includes modules for commercial and industrial rooftop systems. Meyer Burger Tile’s solar-optimized roof tile provides the roofing industry with better adaptability.

This latest generation module products have an optimized cell arrangement that reduces gaps and maximizes space utilization, resulting in even greater efficiency. Previously, this technique was exclusive to the Meyer Burger Glass solar module. In conjunction with Meyer Burger’s patented SmartWire connection technology, the latest modules achieve efficiencies of over 22%. All items now adhere to a uniform format. In the future, this will provide installers with even greater flexibility when planning systems containing Meyer Burger modules. With a module area of less than 1.8 m2, the company will continue to prioritize a handy module size that is installation-friendly for the European market.

In addition to an enhanced frame design, these modules have novel drainage corners. They enhance water drainage from the module and the module’s ability to clean itself through rain. This eliminates standing water on the module and the accumulation of soil around the module’s borders, which enhance energy yield, according to the company.

Meyer Burger White C&I series also has a new model designed specifically for larger rooftop systems. Compatible with a system voltage of 1,500 V, the module enables longer strings to be linked in series, hence reducing the overall system costs for commercial and industrial rooftop installations.

The Meyer Burger Tile is an improved version of its roof tile solution. The tile has an appealing appearance, a high energy yield, and is easy to install and maintain. Roofers are no longer constrained by a fixed substructure dimension due to the variable covering length of the new roof tiles. This is especially useful for roof improvements involving varying substructures. The target applications for these roof-integrated solar systems include private roof systems with new or replacement roofing, properties in restoration and monument protection zones, and dwellings with low roof loads. Meyer Burger Technology announced in July 2021, that it had acquired full intellectual property related to a solar roof tile solution from an unidentified German engineering service provider in the field of PV and electric mobility, to announce a new product offering, a roof-integrated solar system (see Meyer Burger To Offer New Roof-Integrated Solar System). In Dec. 2022, Meyer Burger announced that Dachdecker-Einkauf Süd eG will be the 1st wholesaler to sell its solar roof tiles in Germany (see Europe PV News Snippets).

The  market launch of the Meyer Burger Tile will take place in H2/2023.
