Chinese solar cell and module producer JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. has locked in a 3-year rolled glass supply deal with compatriot Flat Glass Group Co., Ltd. to support the production of 59 GW of its high efficiency solar modules.
JinkoSolar says under the deal Flat Glass will supply it close to 338 million sq. mtr. of solar glass between 2021 and 2023 which will ensure a long term, stable supply for this key module component, in line with the Chinese module producer's strategic plans.
"This 3-year contract will help the company guarantee the long-term supply of solar glass and ease the volatility in the supply chain brought about by the rapid growth of downstream demand. The stability of the supply chain ensures the safety and reliability of our solar products," said JinkoSolar CEO Kangping Chen.
He added that his company is open to 'exploring more joint opportunities' with Flat Glass. According to company's previously disclosed manufacturing plans, it aims to have cumulative module production capacity of 30 GW by the end of 2020 with focus on high efficiency mono modules (see JinkoSolar Shipped Over 5 GW Modules In Q3/2020).
This follows JinkoSolar's long-term purchase agreement with Tongwei to purchase close to 100,000 MT polycrystalline silicon, in November 2020.
In a separate statement released, JinkoSolar confirmed its strategic cooperation with Chinese polysilicon producer Tongwei to jointly invest in a high purity crystalline silicon project with an annual capacity of 45,000 MT and a silicon wafer project with an annual production capacity of 15 GW while developing a more extensive industrial chain cooperation (see Tongwei To Launch Manufacturing JV With JinkoSolar).
Recently Flat Glass secured another long term deal with another tier I solar module manufacturer LONGi for 46 GW capacity (see Long Term PV Glass & Polysilicon Supply Deals For LONGi).
