Global technology leader, Google, has announced that it is collaborating with leading renewable energy and net-zero solution provider for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector, Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions (CleanMax), to decarbonize Google’s cloud services and offices across India.

As part of this agreement, CleanMax will be developing a 125.4 MW hybrid project, consisting of 66 MW solar generation capacity in Rajasthan and 59.4 MW of wind generation capacity in Karnataka. These projects will connect to India’s national grid, supporting the decarbonization of Google’s cloud services and offices throughout the country. This aligns with Google’s commitment to operate on 24/7 carbon-free energy across all grids by 2030.

Speaking about this development, Managing Director of CleanMax, Kuldeep Jain, said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Google on this decarbonization initiative in India. This collaboration with Google not only sets a new standard for environmental leadership but also illustrates our shared commitment to making a real difference in the fight against climate change.”

Meanwhile, Head of Clean Energy & Power for Asia Pacific at Google, Giorgio Fortunato, said, “We believe in the power of meaningful strategic collaborations to drive true impact and transition to resilient lowcarbon systems to continue operating our businesses sustainably.”

The projects are slated to begin commercial operations in Q4 2025, generating an estimated 350,000 million kWh of carbon-free energy annually. This will cut CO2 emissions by approximately 250,000 tons each year, equivalent to planting 14.7 million trees annually, highlighting the project’s significant role in combating climate change.
