State-backed Indian electricity utility National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has issued a notice inviting bids for 1.2 GW solar PV capacity with interstate transmission system (ISTS) connectivity. Projects awarded under the tender can be located anywhere across the country.

The brief invitation for bids (IFB) specifies that bids must be accompanied by earnest money deposit of INR 400,000 ($5,596) per MW.

A pre-bid conference is scheduled for March 6, 2020. Interested solar power developers can submit online bids till March 19, 2020 as per the tender notice.

Last month, NTPC auctioned 560 MW of solar PV capacity of its undersubscribed 1 GW tender that received bids for 700 MW capacity (see NTPC Auctions 560 MW Out Of 1 GW Solar Tender). The utility has been engaged by the government of African country Togo as project management consultant for 300 MW solar power development with backing from the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
