• A new partnership has been revealed between Cubico Sustainable Investments and Celsia
  • Both the companies will develop a portfolio of 400 MW of solar PV capacity in Colombia
  • Once the capacity is complete over the next two years, the partners say it will be the ‘largest solar portfolio’ in the Latin American nation

Renewable energy investor Cubico Sustainable Investments is joining hands with Colombian electric utility company Celsia to develop a portfolio of 400 MW solar PV in Colombia saying it will be the ‘largest solar portfolio’ in the country when complete. This capacity will be developed over the next 2 years.

A short-on-details joint statement issued by the duo will have Cubico identifying business opportunities through a multidisciplinary team and offering its asset management services, while armed with the expertise on the lower power market, Celsia will help with development, structuring, construction and operation of the solar projects.

Colombia is currently coming up as a significant market for solar PV development in Latin America. A bevy of renowned global solar PV players, including Celsia, are awaiting the results of the first large scale renewable energy auction of the country expected any day in October 2019 (see 27 Companies Express Interest In Colombian RE Auction).

In another Latin American PV market, Mexico, Cubico announced commissioning of a 350 MW solar project in October 2019 (see Cubico Commissions 350 MW Solar Project In Mexico).
