Germany Added 182 MW PV In Oct 2018

• Federal Network Agency says October 2018 saw a little over 182 MW of new PV installed in Germany
• October 2018 make it the month with second lowest monthly PV additions reported in 2018
• This takes the country's cumulative installations in the current calendar year to 2,368 MW as of October 2018

Germany's Federal Network Agency's (Bundesnetzagentur) update about October 2018 PV installations show that the EU's largest solar market added 182.054 MW of new capacity, including 13.111 MW of ground-mounted PV. That's less than the 198 MW added in the previous month of September 2018 (see Germany Installed Over 198 MW In Sept 2018), but more than the around 149 MW installed in October 2017 (see Germany Adds 116 MW In November).

This is the second lowest monthly number it has reported in calendar year 2018. The lowest capacity added in any month in 2018 was in March at over 156 MW (see German PV Additions Down In March). The highest monthly PV additions recorded in 2018 so far was in August with more than 354 MW added (see Germany Installed Over 354 MW PV In Aug 2018).

With the October 2018 numbers, Germany's solar power capacity added in 2018 has reached 2,368 MW, thus inching closer to the annual target of 2.5 GW. However, it is surprising that demand decreased in October as companies have had access to low-cost Chinese modules following the expiry of the Minimum Import Price in September. Cumulative installations have crossed 45.3 GW, comprising 34.7 GW added since 2010.

Based on recent installations, as of November, FIT rates for new installations will come down by 1% per month.
