The month of January 2021 has got German solar PV market to a good start with 536.38 MW installed, according to the Federal Network Agency or Bundesnetzagentur. A year back in January 2020 the numbers were around 373 MW, and in December 2020 the monthly additions were 525 MW.

With over half a GW installed in the 1st month of the year, this seems to be a good omen after the country exited 2020 with 4.88 GW new solar added (see Germany Exited 2020 With 4.88 GW New Solar Installed).

The agency's statistics show of the 536 MW installed in January 2021, 493.3 MW came from system sizes of 750 kW, and another 87.28 MW from ground mounted systems outside the EEG tender scheme.

At the end of January 2021, Germany's cumulative installed solar power capacity should have reached over 54.5 GW.
