Germany Installed Over 350 MW New PV In February 2021

Bundesnetzagentur: Solar PV Addition In Germany In February 2021 Added Up To 350.7 MW, With 270.9 MW From Outside EEG Scheme

Germany Installed Over 350 MW New PV In February 2021

While new PV additions in Germany in February 2021 dropped compared to January 2021 according to Bundesnetzagentur’s statistics, interestingly it was at a similar level like in February of the previous 2 years.

After installing a robust 529 MW in the beginning of the year in January 2021, German solar PV installations dropped down to 350.71 MW in the subsequent month of February 2021. The 529 MW is an adjusted number from Bundesnetzagentur, as it had previously claimed 536 MW for January 2021 (see Germany Installed 536 MW New Solar In January 2021).

PV additions in February 2021 comprise 270.9 MW of systems installed outside of the EEG tender scheme, 26.7 MW of ground mounted capacity and 3.063 MW of tenant power systems, as per the Federal Network Agency.

These are almost at the same level as in February 2020 when the country was reported to have installed over 356 MW, later adjusting it to 357.5 MW (see Germany Installed Over 356 MW Solar In February 2020).

By the end of February 2021, Germany’s cumulative installed solar PV capacity grew to 54.8 GW.

With around 4.9 GW installed in calendar year 2020, EUPD Research expects Germany to add 23% more PV capacity in 2021 on an annual basis, reaching 6 GW in all, with non-funded PPA projects expected to contribute 400 MW of the additional capacity (see EUPD Pegs 6 GW New PV Additions In Germany In 2021).
