  • Local media says data is yet to come from 9 provinces while the administration reviews the projects from the rest

Till June 15, 2020, a total of 4,168 solar PV projects in 22 Chinese provinces bid for state subsidies, announced the country's National Renewable Energy Information Management Center. These projects represent a total capacity of 33.59 GW.

Local media referred to official data to report that this capacity includes 346 solar power plants with an aggregate installed capacity of 29.098 GW and 3,822 commercial and industrial distributed solar power projects with a capacity of 4.438 GW. This capacity does not include a list of projects from 9 provinces – Shanxi, Jilin, Heliongjiang, Fujian, Hubei, Hainan, Sichuan, Yunan and Tibet Autonomous Region. The administration is currently reviewing these projects.

Earlier this year, the National Energy Administration fixed RMB 1.5 billion as subsidy for new large scale and rooftop solar projects to be disbursed for projects that enter construction before the end of 2020.

Local media reports claimed in May 2020 that within the first 4 months of 2020, 327 MW residential solar PV capacity in 11 Chinese provinces qualified for state financial subsidies. In April 2020, the government announced subsidy cuts for residential, commercial, and industrial systems with effect from June 1, 2020.
