JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. has published a new record module efficiency for its bifacial solar modules that has reached 22.49%, which it claims sets a new industry standard for efficiency of mass produced solar cells. German independent technical services provider TÜV Rheinland has verified JinkoSolar's claims.
The world's largest module supplier from China says it managed the feat with newly developed ARC and advanced metallization technologies along with proven proprietary technologies to high-efficiency cell design.
It also incorporates new tiling ribbon (TR) technology to do away with any gap between the cells leading to higher power conversion efficiency of the cell contributing to lowering levelized cost of electricity (LCOE). Jinko uses TR for its commercial Tiger series (see TaiyangNews webinar on Advanced Solar Module Technologies with presentation on TR from Jinko).
"Going forward, we will accelerate the application of the latest and most advanced technologies to the mass production of our solar products which will drive an increase in cost-effectiveness and promote grid parity on a global scale," said JinkoSolar's Vice President, Jin Hao.
Back in June 2019, the Chinese Academy of Sciences confirmed a 24.38% cell efficiency record for JinkoSolar's Cheetah cells and 24.58% for N-type cells (see 24.38% Efficiency For JinkoSolar's Cheetah Cells).
Recently, the company has announced to build an R&D Center for further research on its 460 W Tiger solar panels which are aimed at reaching 500 W or more power ratings by 2021 (see JinkoSolar Builds R&D Center For Tiger Panels Abroad).

A first statement TaiyangNews received from the company had specified this efficiency level for its N-type HOT bifacial modules.
