Chinese solar PV company Talesun Solar has claimed to have increased its PERC solar cell power conversion efficiency to 23.56%, exceeding the 23.50% mark. It says this achievement has secured it a certificate by the National Photovoltaic Industry Metrology and Testing Center of Fujian Institute of Metrology following an independent testing by the center.
This turns out to be the solar cell and module producer's highest efficiency for its PERC solar cell technology. "This breakthrough in the efficiency of PERC cells is based on the company's self-developed PERC2.0 technical solution, which further optimizes and improves key technologies such as diffusion doping, interface passivation, and metal contact, which greatly reduces the total J0 of the cell and increases the open circuit voltage (Voc) to 691 mV," explained Talesun Solar.
Part of the Zhongli Group, Talesun Solar said it will continue to invest in research and development of its technology with a view to improving conversion efficiency and quality of its PERC cells.
Over the last 5 years, peak monocrystalline PERC solar cell efficiency has increased steadily going up from 21.4% claimed by Trina Solar in November 2014 to 24.06% asserted by LONGi in January 2019. TaiyangNews covered high efficiency solar cell technologies, including PERC, indepth in a report released late last year titled High Efficiency Cell Technologies 2019 Edition.
