A Government of India enterprise Hindustan Salts Limited (HSL) and its subsidiary Sambhar Salts Limited (SSL) have launched 2 separate expressions of interest (EOI) offering land for the development of up to 5 GW solar power capacity in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
SSL's EOI relates to land available for the execution of an Ultra Mega Solar Power Project of up to 4 GW capacity at Sambhar Lake region in Rajasthan. Of the 58,000 acres of land here, out of which 38,400 is lake area and SSL produces salt using some 2,500 acres. It intends to utilize a large area for solar power generation.
On the other hand, its parent HSL is offering land to interested developers for 1 GW solar power project to be built at Kharaghoda in Surendranagar district of Gujarat with the company providing its own land for the purpose.
Winners will develop, operate and generate revenue from the sale of generated power. They will arrange, obtain and maintain all requisite permits and approvals to construct, evacuate and grid connect the facility, along with signing power purchase agreements (PPA). In return, the developer will pay a fixed annual rental for the land provided by HSL and SSL on per acre basis.
Launched on November 27, 2021, last date to submit EOIs for both the tenders is December 13, 2021. Further details are available on HSL's website.
