Israel-based Econergy Renewable Energy and Nofar Energy have completed the 155 MW Ratesti Solar Park in Romania's southern Arges County, calling it the largest solar park in all of Romania and Southeastern Europe.
The project is spread across 165 hectares of land and is expected to generate 220 GWh annually. It was built by the duo for an estimated €102 million.
Its inauguration was announced by the Romanian Photovoltaic Industry Association during an event held on site of the solar plant. It is currently in the testing phase and will be commissioned soon.
According to local media reports, the project is equipped with 135,000 solar panels and work was completed within 18 months of starting in 2022.
Econergy and Nofar had acquired the project in August 2021 from Portland Trust when it was announced to have 153 MW capacity (see Europe PV News Snippets: Nofar, Singulus, Orsted).
Romania is on its way to introduce competitive auctions for large-scale solar and wind power projects with a 2 GW tender expected to be launched this year (see Romania Releases CfD Auction Schedule For 5 GW).
