26.4% Efficiency For N-Type Monocrystalline Silicon Solar Cell

JinkoSolar Achieves 26.4% Conversion Efficiency For 182mm High-Efficiency N-Type TOPCon Monocrystalline Silicon Cell

26.4% Efficiency For N-Type Monocrystalline Silicon Solar Cell

JinkoSolar claims to have broken world record for cell and module efficiency 22 times now. The latest efficiency it has now announced is 26.4% for n-type TOPCon high efficiency monocrystalline silicon cell. (Source: JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd.)

  • JinkoSolar has reported 26.4% efficiency for its high efficiency n-type TOPCon monocrystalline silicon cell
  • It surpasses the company’s own previous high of 26.1% for the same cell configuration reported in October 2022
  • JinkoSolar says the 26.4% claim is certified by the testing laboratory of China Academy of Metrology

Chinese solar cell and module producer JinkoSolar has announced achieving full-area conversion efficiency of 26.4% for its 182mm high-efficiency n-type TOPCon monocrystalline silicon cell, certified by the testing laboratory of China Academy of Metrology.

The company calls it a ‘major breakthrough’ for the cell whose technology its research institute developed inhouse independently. It exceeds 26.1% efficiency the manufacturer reported in October 2022 for the same cell, which itself was an improvement over 25.7% efficienct reported for n-type mono-si cell (see 26.1% Efficiency For JinkoSolar’s N-Type Silicon Cell).

Without sharing too many details about the higher efficiency level achieved, the manufacturer said its R&D team developed a number of advanced technologies suitable for large sizes as bulk defect passivation technology, graded polysilicon film layer and metal interface composite suppression technology to get there.

A strong proponent and one of the early adopters of TOPCon, JinkoSolar says its 35 GW n-type TOPCon cell production capacity is the world’s largest and so is its n-type crystal pulling capacity of 20 GW. With this strong vertically integrated industrial chain, it counts having been able to break the world record of cell efficiency and modules 22 times, including ‘7 consecutive times’ for n-type TOPCon cells in the last 2 years.

JinkoSolar’s Tiger Neo TOPCon solar module with 585W rating and 22.65% efficiency puts it on 3rd spot of TaiyangNews Top Solar Modules Listing for October 2022 (see TOP Solar Modules Listing—October 2022).
