JBM Solar To Go Ahead With Subsidy Free 50 MW Corner Copse Solar & Storage Farm In UK After Pegasus Group Wins It Planning Approval

  • Pegasus Group has announced securing planning approval for a 50 MW solar and storage farm in the UK
  • Swindon Borough Council gave its nod to the project that JBM Solar will build in Swindon town with storage capacity
  • Construction period for the project is likely to last 6 months and will be built without state subsidies

The Swindon Borough Council in the UK has granted planning permission to a 50 MW solar PV and storage project in Swindon town of Wiltshire County. UK based consultancy Pegasus Group has announced securing planning permission on behalf of its client JBM Solar Projects.

The Corner Copse Solar Farm will be developed without state support near Stanton Fitzwarren in Swindon along with associated infrastructure. The exact capacity of the storage component is not known nor is the timeline of the project.

The project will generate enough clean power to suffice the annual energy needs of 15,500 homes. Construction period on the project is expected to last 6 months during which it will generate jobs for up to 80 workers onsite and 106 temporary positions.

The proposed solar farm site will continue to be used for agriculture in the long run, also whe the 50 MW plant is online.

“We are delighted to receive planning consent for our second UK subsidy-free solar/battery scheme. This is the culmination of many months of hard work by our development team and marks an important step on the road to developing a large portfolio of JBM projects in the coming months and years,” said JBM Solar Projects Director Brendan O’Brien.

JBM Solar Projects is active in the solar project development space in the UK and Ireland since 2012 and has secured planning approval for more than 450 MW including the Corner Copse Solar Farm.

Earlier this year, Pegasus Group helped Voltalia UK get planning approval for its 40 MW subsidy free solar PV and storage project from Dorset Council (see 40 MW Solar & Storage Plant In UK Secures Approval).
