  • Jurchen will provide its PEG EW racking solution for 50 ground-mounted PV projects in Barbados
  • These will be set up as community solar gardens with a combined 60 MW DC capacity
  • All projects, backed by Sol Ecolution funding, are scheduled to enter construction between 2024 and 2026

Solar racking and DC cabling company Jurchen Technology US Corporation will provide its racking solution for 50 community solar gardens with a combined 60 MW DC capacity for installation in Barbados, under partnership with local renewables developer Blue Circle Energy Projects (BC Energy).

The portfolio is currently at various stages of development, across 11 parishes in the Caribbean nation. These ground-mounted facilities are scheduled to be constructed in stages between 2024 and 2026.

The project partners believe that the decentralized nature of these solar gardens will minimize short-term impacts on the electrical grid and also provide long-term grid support and resilience.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Jurchen and BC Energy, the former will use its PEG EW racking technology for the portfolio that’s funded by Sol Ecolution.

Jurchen claims its PEG EW racking solution with its low-to-the-ground and waist-height racking has an aerodynamic design to withstand extreme wind hurricanes, a natural phenomenon that Barbados is vulnerable to.

Our PEG racking solution not only simplifies the installation process but also enhances energy resiliency, even amidst the extreme weather conditions that the region frequently encounters,” said Jurchen Technology US Corp CEO Matthew Lusk. “I firmly believe that this PEG collaboration will set a new standard in the Caribbean, demonstrating the potential for innovative, low-cost solutions that can be used in large scale to help nations reach their renewable energy goals.”

Back in July 2022, Sol Ecolution and BC Energy announced collaboration for 30 MW community solar capacity in Barbados (see 50 Ground Mounted PV Projects In Barbados).
