Huasun hosts HJT gala in Bulgaria: Heterojunction (HJT) solar PV manufacturer Huasun Energy held an exclusive gala in Sofia, Bulgaria, following Intersolar Europe 2024. The event, focused on HJT solar technology, showcased new products, including zero busbar (0BB) HJT modules and HJT-perovskite tandem solar cells, highlighting advancements and market outlook in the Balkans. It discussed the efficiency and reliability of Huasun’s HJT modules and their application in vertical photovoltaic (PV) projects, supported by advanced tracking systems. Huasun says that its partnerships, such as with NEA Engineering, have led to successful projects across Bulgaria, which leverage its modules’ superior temperature coefficient. The gala also included panel discussions that explored the role of renewable energy in regional decarbonization and the contribution of Chinese companies to Balkan power initiatives. Huasun possesses a significant supply agreement of up to 3 GW in the Balkans, which it says positions it well for continued success and collaboration in the region.

At the recently concluded SNEC 2024, TaiyangNews Managing Director Michael Schmela interviewed Huasun Chairman & CEO, Jimmy Xu (see SNEC 2024 Exclusive: Huasun Executive Interview).

Grand Sunergy wins major offshore and salt-PV projects: Solar module manufacturer Grand Sunergy has announced it has secured 2 significant projects in China’s renewable energy sector. These are the CGN 400 MW offshore PV project in Zhaoyuan, Yantai, and the CGN 600MW salt-PV complementary project in Tushan, Laizhou. The offshore project is expected to generate 690 GWh annually, reducing coal consumption by 207,000 tons and CO2 emissions by 532,000 tons. The salt-PV project aims to produce 1,004 GWh annually, saving 315,900 tons of coal and cutting CO2 emissions by 566,000 tons. The company says these projects highlight its technological excellence, particularly with its bifacial double-glass HJT solar modules.

In May, Grand Sunergy announced the signing of a contract to supply PV module equipment to the CGN Yantai Zhaoyuan 400 MW Offshore Photovoltaic Project (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Talesun Solar signs MoU with MEM Solar: Solar PV company Talesun Solar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Turkey’s MEM Solar for a solar PV project. According to the MoU, the 2 parties will collaborate on a 1.5 GW solar module project over 3 years. Previously, the 2 companies jointly established a 1 GW solar module production line in southern Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province (see Talesun Solar Modules Go Under Production In Turkey).

GoodWe wins bid for VPP project in Anhui Province: Solar inverter and storage solutions manufacturer GoodWe has announced that it has secured the bid for the Anhui Provincial Electric Power Company’s virtual power plant (VPP) project. GoodWe will collaborate with Anhui Provincial Electric Power Company to aggregate distributed resources in the Xuancheng area, such as PV storage and charging, and establish a self-operated aggregator VPP operation platform. This initiative aims to participate in Anhui’s electric grid auxiliary services and electricity market (mid to long-term and spot), creating the first ‘source-grid-load-storage integration’ demonstration project participating in the electricity market within Anhui Province.

In April, GoodWe and DAQO Energy announced a strategic cooperation agreement (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
