  • Statkraft has secured a solar power PPA with Mondelēz International in Spain
  • The 100 GWh power supply will start from January 1, 2025 for a period of 11 years
  • Statkraft will ensure this supply from a PV project out of its 1.8 GW wind and solar portfolio in Iberia

The Spanish presence of the American food production company Mondelēz International has entered an 11-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to procure solar power for its local operations in Spain. For the supplier Statkraft, this is its maiden agreement for the food industry in Spain.

The solar power plant in Andalusia, of undisclosed installed capacity, is part of Statkraft’s 1.8 GW wind and solar portfolio in the Iberian Peninsula.

The producer of brands as Oreo, belVita and LU cookies; Cadbury Dairy Milk, Milka and Toblerone Chocolate, Mondelēz says the offtake agreement fits into its global target to achieve net-zero GHG emissions goal across the value chain by 2050.

The Statkraft project is contracted by Mondelēz to supply around 100 GWh annually from the project, starting from January 1, 2025.

Recently, Statkraft announced the acquisition of the renewable energy business of Elecnor Group, Enerfin. The latter brings 1.5 GW of operational and under construction wind and solar power capacity to the Norwegian company’s kitty, plus a sizable pipeline of projects in development.
