  • Shell Energy Europe has entered a corporate solar power sourcing agreement with Air Liquide
  • The 10-year PPA is for 52 GWh solar power annually to be supplied from 42 MW PV capacity
  • Air Liquide will use this energy supply to cover a large part of its electricity consumption for the production of industrial and medicinal gases

French industrial gases and services supplier to various industries, Air Liquide will source 52 GWh solar power annually from Shell Energy Europe Limited (SEEL) to power its industrial and medical gas production operations in North East of Italy.

The 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for 42 MW solar energy capacity will come into effect from 2023 onward. It will help the French company save around 24,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. Air Liquide said this capacity will help it cover a large part of the electricity consumption for the production of industrial and medicinal gases.

SEEL's General Manager for Power, Rupen Tanna said, "Across Shell Energy Europe, we are focused on delivering a range of clean power solutions to help customers reduce their emissions and we are delighted to help Air Liquide progress their decarbonization goals. We have a growing portfolio of renewable energy and this supports the expansion of clean energy developments in countries where we operate."
