Ellomay Capital Ltd. has announced successful commissioning of one of the largest solar PV plants to come up on the European map. The 300 MW project is now grid connected in the municipality of Talaván, Cáceres region of Spain.

Israel based renewable energy company Ellomay announced the official grid connection of 300 MW Talasol Photovoltaic Plant on December 29, 2020 that it constructed through a special purpose vehicle Talasol Solar S.L.

Financial closure on the project—owned by Ellomay Capital (51%) and GSE 3 UK Limited and Fond-ICO Infraestructuras II (49%)—was achieved in May 2019 post which METKA EGN secured a notice to proceed with construction activity. In October 2020, the latter achieved mechanical completion on the site and will also provide operation and maintenance services for next 2 years. It has deployed ultra-high efficiency Cheetah modules from JinkoSolar for this project (see 448 MW Chinese Modules For Spanish & Ukrainian Projects).

Between the announcement of this project and its commissioning, several other large scale projects on a much larger scale have been launched in Europe. The list includes 500 MW DC Nunez de Balboa PV Project of Iberdrola in Spain's Badajoz region, and the  company is now already working on a 505 MW project also in Spain in Castilla y Leon region (see Iberdrola Launches 505 MW Solar PV Project In Spain). Iberdrola has also secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) for what it calls the 'largest planned' solar PV plant in Europe with 590 MW capacity (see German Pharma Company To Get Solar Power In Spain).
