  • Trina Solar has secured a long term solar module supply contract for its 210mm series
  • NextEra Energy Resources will source about 4 GW of these modules from the Chinese supplier between 2022-2023
  • According to Trina Solar, this contract is conducive to ensuring stable sales of its high power modules

Trina Solar has received a major endorsement of its 210mm sized solar PV modules with a 4 GW order coming from NextEra Energy, Inc. The long term contract has been entered between the subsidiaries of the 2 companies—Trina Solar (US), Inc. and NextEra Energy Constructors, LLC.

Under the long term sales contract signed between the duo, Trina Solar will supply about 4 GW of 210mm solar PV modules to NextEra Energy between 2022 and 2023. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Trina Solar said this long term sales contract is in line with the company's future business development plan and conducive to ensuring stable sales of its high power modules. This deal should financially secure the Chinese company's efforts to raise funds for its targeted solar module production capacity expansion to grow to over 50 GW by the end of 2021. Recently, it announced plans to raise RMB 5.26 billion through convertible corporate bonds (see Trina Solar To Raise Over RMB 5 Billion To Fund Expansion).

Previously, NextEra Energy was under a long term module supply contract with Trina Solar's peer JinkoSolar (see 2.75 GW JinkoSolar US Modules For NextEra). Late last year, the US based wholesale electricity supplier NextEra Energy secured over 1 GW solar project agreement with NIPSCO (see NextEra Contracted By NIPSCO For 900 MW New Solar).
