  • The project is contracted to deliver power for a tariff of INR 3.24/kWh for a period of 25 years

Indian renewable energy company Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has brought online a 700 MW renewable energy project in India's Rajasthan, calling it the world's 'largest' wind-solar hybrid power plant that takes the company's operational renewables portfolio to over 8.02 GW.

Located in Jaisalmer district, Adani says, "This new hybrid power plant consists of a combination of 600 MW solar and 510 MW wind plants." AGEL project company Adani Hybrid Energy Jaisalmer Four Limited has used bifacial solar modules and horizontal single-axis trackers (HSAT) for this facility.

AGEL says this facility is contracted to deliver power generated for a period of 25 years for INR 3.24/kWh.

The project is AGEL's 4th hybrid wind-solar project. With it online, the company now counts its operating wind-solar hybrid portfolio as 2.14 GW, all located in Jaisalmer. So far it has commissioned a 390 MW facility calling it India's 1st hybrid power plant in May 2022, followed by a 600 MW facility as the world's 'largest' co-located hybrid power plant in September 2022, and a 3rd with 450 MW in December 2022 (see India PV News Snippets).

It also claims the share of 2.14 GW operational hybrid wind-solar capacity and 8.02 GW of total operational renewables capacity makes it the largest operator in these segments in India.

Its total portfolio of operational, under construction and awarded projects stands at 20.4 GW. During 9M/FY23 (period ending December 2022), the company's operational capacity increased by 35% YoY to 7.3 GW comprising 1.44 GW hybrid wind-solar and a 150 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan.

Set up as the renewable energy arm of the Adani Group, AGEL and other group companies closed $1.87 billion investment from US based global equity investment firm GQG Partners recently with AGEL securing $0.34 billion.
