  • PVH Middle East has upgraded its Saudi Arabian production fab to roll out up to 8 GW annually
  • It incorporates 90% local content and now expects to exceed 7 GW supply target to the Middle East by 2023
  • Beyond the Middle East, it will also cater to utility scale facilities in Europe, Asia, America and Australia

Spanish solar tracker manufacturer PV Hardware (PVH) has upgraded its Saudi Arabian solar tracker production facility in Jeddah, increasing its annual capacity up to 8 GW to help it cater to solar power projects in the Middle East, along with utility scale facilities in Europe, Asia, America and Australia.

"With this new factory in Saudi Arabia, PVH Middle East will double its capacity, exporting its trackers internationally, becoming the world leader," said PVH Chairman Iván Higueras. "We will keep working hard, as a family, with our eyes on the next goal of expanding this facility and start thinking about phases 2 and 3."

Back in May 2021, the Spanish manufacturer established its 1st Saudi Arabian as well as maiden Middle Eastern fab to manufacture PV structures, solar tracking systems and robotic cleaning devices with more than 60% local content of its components. "This new factory upgrades the previous facility with new state-of-the-art machinery and is set up with a significant increase production up to 8 GW per year to reach 90% local content," shared PVH Middle East Managing Director, Youssef Elsayed.

PVH Middle East claims to be the only tracker supplier with local manufacturing and permanent presence in Saudi Arabia. It expects to exceed the 2023 target to supply around 7 GW capacity to the Middle East with the new fab.

Also present during the inauguration ceremony was a PVH client and local renewable energy company ACWA Power whose Chairman Mohammad Abunayyan stated that 'having PVH Middle East Operating from Jeddah ensures our future cooperation and is a sign of the potential of the region in solar power'.

The news of the new PVH fab comes 2 months after it announced plans to build its own factory in Texas, US with 6 GW annual capacity. Management aims to bring the facility online by June 2023 as the 'only' solar tracker owned facility in North America, and the company's 3rd wholly owned fab in the world. PVH also operates a solar tracker fab back home in Spain.
