The world's largest corporate procurer of renewable energy, e-commerce behemoth Amazon has added another 2.7 GW clean energy capacity to its portfolio across 4 continents, with maiden solar power plants in India and Poland, and an entry into the renewables market of Brazil.
In the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the company has invested in 3 large scale solar projects in India's Rajasthan with 420 MW combined capacity taking its total renewable energy projects in APAC to 57.
While Amazon has not identified the projects, Indian renewable energy company Amp Energy India has identified itself as the supplier of 100 MW solar for Amazon. The project in Bhadla is scheduled to come online by 2023-end.
In Europe, the company has made its 1st investment in a utility scale solar farm in Poland which makes it one of the country's largest corporate solar delas announced to date. It has also signed up for the company's 1st rooftop solar projects in France and Austria.

"We are bringing new wind and solar projects online to power our offices, fulfillment centers, data centers, and stores, which collectively serve millions of customers globally, and we are on a path to reach 100% renewable energy across our entire business by 2025," said CEO of Amazon Web Services, Adam Selipsky.
The company's total renewable energy project capacity has now increased to 18.5 GW in the form of 379 facilities across 21 nations, including 154 wind and solar farms, 225 rooftop solar projects. Amazon says by the end of 2021, the company had reached 85% renewable energy across its business.
This new round of procurement efforts was preceded by Amazon signing up for 37 new projects with 3.5 GW capacity in April 2022 (see Amazon Contracts 3.5 GW New RE Capacity).
