Bondada Engineering will install a 2 GW AC solar capacity with INR 90 billion investment
Jupiter Renewables gets nod for 4.8 GW solar cell and 1.5 GW solar module manufacturing plant
Amplus Energy will build an INR 39.41 billion wind-solar hybrid power project in Kadapa
The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) of Andhra Pradesh has approved several projects in the renewable energy sector of the state, including for solar generation and PV manufacturing.
Among the projects cleared by the SIPB is 2.6 GW DC/2 GW AC solar generation capacity installation by Indian EPC company Bondada Engineering Limited. The company won INR 90 billion ($1.06 billion) order from the state government.
It will install this capacity at Roddam & Kothacheruvu in Sri Sathya Sai District, and Gooty, Peddavadugur, Vidapanakallu, Peddapoppur & Narpala in Ananthapuramu District.
The implementation will be carried out through the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Bondada Renewable Energy Private Limited in various phases, starting with 250 MW in FY 2026. Another 750 MW will be implemented in FY 2027, followed by remaining 1 GW capacity in FY 2028.
Power generated by these projects will be sold outside the state of Andhra Pradesh with the state government’s first right of refusal up to 30% of capacity. Projects will need to be completed within 24 months.
Bondada says this capacity will generate 3,900 jobs in the state. It increases the Bondada Renewable’s orderbook to approximately INR 140 billion ($1.65 billion).
Another proposal approved by the SIPB in its 6th meeting is a 4.8 GW solar cell and 1.5 GW module manufacturing project by Jupiter Renewables, a subsidiary of Jupiter International. To be sited at Rambilli in Anakapalli district, this PV manufacturing project will be installed for an investment worth INR 27 billion ($317 million).
Under phase I, the company has proposed to develop 2.4 GW of solar cell and 1.5 GW module capacity by March 2026, followed by 2.4 GW cell capacity by July 2026, according to a Press Trust of India (PTI) news covered by several local media outlets.
Earlier this year, Jupiter announced plans to establish 4.2 GW solar cell and 3.6 GW solar module production factory in Odisha as part of its broader expansion plan to achieve 3 GW wafer, 9.4 GW solar cell and 6 GW module production capacity over the next 3 years (see India Solar PV News Snippets: Jupiter To Expand Solar Cells & Module Capacity & More).
Andhra Pradesh has also approved a wind-solar hybrid power project by Amplus Energy Solutions in Kadapa region worth INR 39.41 billion ($463 million).
