In a strategic move, Canada headquartered integrated solar PV manufacturer Canadian Solar Inc has expanded the job description of its North America focused utility scale solar and storage projects developer Recurrent Energy to look after its global development and services business.

Canadian Solar says Recurrent Energy has a pipeline of 25 GW solar and 47 GWh battery storage capacity out of which as of January 31, 2023, 14 GW solar and 12 GWh storage have secured interconnections. The US based subsidiary also has another 6 GW portfolio of operations and maintenance (O&M) projects that are either operational or contracted.

In a global role, Recurrent Energy will be responsible for developing, financing and building solar and storage projects under the parent company.

"As Canadian Solar continues to make a difference by supporting the global transition towards a more reliable, lower-carbon grid, we are pleased to streamline our development and operations and maintenance services under the Recurrent Energy umbrella. Recurrent Energy is now unified in its global mission and growth," said Canadian Solar Chairman and CEO Dr Shawn Qu.
