German energy unicorn 1KOMMA5° has expanded its geographic footprint to another European market, of the Netherlands with the acquisition of Zonduurzaam, a solar and battery solutions provider with a portfolio of over 10,000 energy systems installed.

Deventer-located Zonduurzaam installed close to 5,000 energy systems in 2023 alone. This acquisition will enable 1KOMMA5° to expand its product and software portfolio in the Dutch market, including its Heartbeat energy management solution along with heat pumps.

Heartbeat allows users access to real-time energy flows and historical data leading to an increase in PV self-consumption by 10%, according to the German company. Customers get access to Heartbeat with the company's green electricity contract under which it obtains clean electricity when it is cheap on the energy market.

"Introducing the energy management system "Heartbeat" alongside 1KOMMA5° optimization software and integrated dynamic tariffs to the market will be essential to evolve our company from a solar-focused to a true one-stop-shop for clean energy and mobility," said CEO and co-founder of Zonduurzaam, Koen Rozendom.

With this acquisition, 1KOMMA5° is now present in 7 nations, including Sweden, Finland, Spain, Denmark and Australia.

1KOMMA5° says it now plans to further expand to European commercial and multi-portfolio real estate owners with its energy solutions.

In October 2023, 1KOMMA5° announced plans to enter solar module manufacturing for TOPCon modules in Germany with 1 GW capacity by 2024 under phase I. It will be expanded to 5 GW annually by 2030 (see TOPCon Solar Module Production In Germany).
