Helios Nordic Energy AB has expanded its existing solar power project portfolio by an additional 500 MW to grow it to a total of 1 GW, the Sweden based solar power project developer announced.
This 500 MW will be added in the form of 10 solar power projects, all located in the southern part of the country. In a statement released, Helios said it is now also preparing to invite appropriate investors for parts of its portfolio in the southern part of Sweden where several of its projects will soon reach ready-to-build (RTB) status.
Helios has been able to reach this milestone 6 months earlier than projected. It had fixed this target after Norwegian solar and wind power player Magnora ASA acquired a 25% stake in the company in February 2021.
Magnora's EVP Operations Peter Nygren said, "The Nordic utility scale solar PV is attracting a growing interest from buyers throughout Europe, supported by technology development and further cost reductions in the solar value chain."
Helios now aims to increase its development portfolio by another GW to 2 GW by the end of 2022 in well-suited locations, according to its CEO Andreas Tunbjer.
