The State of Madhya Pradesh in India plans to develop 1.55 GW solar power capacity deploying ground mounted and floating PV technology. It is now seeking a consultancy to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the same.
The 1.55 GW capacity is planned to come up as 950 MW Chattarpur Solar Park and 600 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park on identified sites, as per the tender notice issued by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL)—a joint venture between the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) and the Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL).
Last date for interested consultants to submit bids is February 10, 2021.
Earlier this month, Madhya Pradesh's renewable energy minister Hardeep Singh Dang was quoted by local media as calling the 600 MW floating solar power project in Khandwa district as the world's largest such project and that it is expected to begin producing solar power by year 2022-2023. Dang had shared that the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank and the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) have granted in-principle consent to back its project development.
The primary feasibility study of the project has been completed, and that the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company will purchase power generated by 400 MW of the 600 MW floating PV project.
In November 2020, RUMSL issued an e-tender to select consultant to provide consulting services for environment and social baseline survey to identify land for proposed solar parks in Morena under cluster 1 and in Chhattarpur under cluster 2 (see India PV News Snippets: MNRE, RIL, IREDA, RUMSL).
