Meta has signed 791 MW of new clean energy deals with Invenergy, its long-time partner
This comprises 4 new solar and wind energy projects in Ohio, Arizona and Texas
Once the facilities are online in 2027 and 2028, Meta will receive the associated clean energy credits
Invenergy and Meta have announced 4 new clean energy agreements totaling 791 MW of wind and solar capacity. These contracts will support Meta’s operations and data center growth with near-term energy supply.
All the projects are located in the US. These include the 300 MW Yellow Wood Solar Energy Center and the 140 MW Pleasant Prairie Solar Energy Center, both in Ohio and expected to come online in 2027.
The 155 MW Decoy Solar Energy Center in Arizona is scheduled for grid connection in 2027, while the 196 MW Seaway Wind Energy Center in Texas is set to come online in 2028.
With these agreements, Meta has now turned offtaker for 1.8 GW of total clean energy from Invenergy, including 4 contracts worth 760 MW signed in December 2024 (see North America Solar PV News Snippets: Solar Leads New York’s Clean Energy Sector Jobs & More).
Electricity generated by the Meta-contracted projects will be connected to the local grid, while Meta will receive clean energy credits associated with the new generation capacity.
“We're laser-focused on advancing our AI ambitions—and to do that, we need clean, reliable energy. We're grateful for Invenergy's longtime partnership that helps us support our energy needs and implement our clean energy goals, and look forward to continued collaboration,” said Meta’s Head of Global Energy, Urvi Parekh.
Recently, Meta entered 2 new long-term PPAs with The AES Corporation to support its data centers with 650 MW of solar projects located in Texas and Kansas (see North America Solar PV News Snippets: Arevon Raises $98 Million For 265 MW Solar Projects & More).
