Canada based building integrated PV (BIPV) manufacturer Mitrex has started production at its Toronto based new factory with a capacity to produce 25,000 sq. ft. of solar integrated panels. Here it will be producing BIPV products as solar cladding and solar glass for windows and railing per day, for the North American market and beyond.
Mitrex said the new fab will enable it to roll out 100% locally produced solar products, and ramp up product offerings to other markets, including the US. Hinting at the company's global manufacturing plans 'throughout Canada, the US and then the world', Mitrex CEO Danial Hadizadeh said, "With the opening of the new factory, it will allow us to create construction materials that meet the architectural demands of our clients while creating a blueprint for future Mitrex factories across the world."
Covering an area of more than 100,000 sq. ft, the new fab also incorporates the company's own cladding technology as a uniquely designed 3D outer wall, which Mitrex said will allow for a more effective production system, enabling it to produce its panels at competitive prices. The building will also act as the company's head office.
Mitrex said this one of its kind facility will help the company cement itself as a major player in the North American and global markets with its R&D efforts, manufacturing capabilities and new supply chain capacity.
