Q ENERGY has secured €50.4 million for 74.3 MW floating solar power plant
The project is located in France’s Haute-Marne department on a 127-hectare space
The financing has been arranged by Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies and Bpifrance
Part of South Korea’s Hanwha Solutions Corporation, Q ENERGY has raised a total of €50.4 million in debt financing for what it touts as the biggest floating solar project in Europe. The total installed capacity of this French project is targeted to be 74.3 MW.
Financing for this project was arranged by Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies and Bpifrance.
The Les Ilots Blandin Floating Solar Power Plant was originally planned to have a 66 MW capacity. The expansion was announced a year back in September 2023 following an improvement to the original design (see ‘Largest’ Floating Solar Power Plant In France).
Currently under construction, the project is coming up on 127 hectares of former gravel pits in France’s Haute-Marne department. It will be equipped with 134,649 solar modules mounted on floats. This project is scheduled to come online in Q1 2025.
“The financing of this project will accelerate the advent of renewable energies in Europe and support everyone towards carbon neutrality," said Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies, Christine Delamarre.
French floating solar specialist Ciel & Terre is part of the consortium that won the Q ENERGY’s EPC tender for the project. Other members of the consortium include Perpetum Energy and Solutions 30 Sud-Ouest (formerly Sotranasa).
