German renewable energy developer Blue Elephant Energy AG (BEE) has secured partners to develop a combined solar power capacity of 356.5 MW in Europe and Latin America, the company declared in 3 separate announcements.
In Italy, it plans to develop 6 solar projects with a combined capacity of 158 MW and 7 projects in the Netherlands with 79 MW capacity, all under a joint development cooperation with fellow German utility scale solar EPC company Greencells Group. First of these projects are expected to reach construction status from 2022, and the entire portfolio to connect to the grid by 2025.
In a separate announcement, BEE said it acquired 4 ready-to-build PV parks in the Netherlands with a total output of 47 MW from renewable energy investment and asset management company Low Carbon Energy (LC Energy). All the facilities are to enter construction in H1/2021 with planned grid connection planned for the end of 2021. LC Energy will continue support BEE during construction process along with helping with grid connection, permits and land management.
With this acquisition, BEE said its renewable energy portfolio in the Netherlands has expanded to 500 MW and to 1,066 MW globally.
In Chile, BEE has struck a joint venture partnership with Chilean distributed generation energy company oEnergy Generación Solar Distribuida SpA that's entirely responsible for the establishment and development of 119.5 MW decentralized solar parks under the agreement signed. The joint venture company will develop, construct and operate this portfolio in the form of 12 projects spread across Valparaíso and Biobío regions, with majority of these to come up in Maule region. Entire portfolio is expected to be complete by September 2022 under Chilean Small Decentralized Generation Program (PMGD) for it to allow to be sold at a stable price for a long term.
Once this Chilean portfolio of 119.5 MW is complete, BEE said it will have an operational PV portfolio of over 177 MW in Latin America, after counting in Montecristi Solar Park in the Dominican Republic.
